Heritage Academy

Christine M. Ivie, Ed.D.

School Administrator, Heritage Academy Superintendent, District #479

Heritage Academy students are tackling real life challenges as part of their

regular school schedule. Heritage Academy offers all of its students the opportunity

to participate in weekly enrichment clusters that are student-directed

and standards-aligned. Students are allowed to choose their own clusters and

each cluster produces a real-world product or service.

This semester, students are focused on wood-working; sculpture; cooking;

birds; manners; photography and sign-language. Past clusters have written

and performed musicals; published a coloring book; started a bully-free

program and taken hiking trips, among many other accomplishments. HA

students also participate in instruction in core content areas. The things that

they learn in their language arts, math, science and social studies instruction

are often applied in clusters. Students look forward to going to their clusters

each week. It’s something that allows them to see how learning applies to the

real world and it›s one of the highlights of many students› school experience.

Heritage Academy is located at 500 S. Lincoln Avenue, in Jerome. The

school is a tuition-free public charter school that is open to any K-8 student in

the Magic Valley. Students are selected through a lottery process to ensure all

students have an opportunity to enroll. The lottery for the 2014-15 school year

will be held on April 10, 2014 and lottery registration is currently open.

Parents may contact the school at 595-1617 or stop by and visit for more
